The Importance of Wearing Sunscreen, Every Single Day

August 19, 2020

Sunscreen needs to be applied, every single day. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, it is estimated that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime.

And the easiest way to avoid this is by applying sunscreen during your morning routine.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What kind of sunscreen do I use?

The AAD recommends using broad spectrum protection sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and one that is water resistant. This will be the most likely to stay on all day, and protect you from the most types of rays.

This will also help prevent sunburn, early signs of aging, such as dark spots and wrinkles, and skin cancer.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Is the sunscreen in my makeup enough?

No. The sunscreen in your makeup is not enough to give you the protection you need. It is recommended that sunscreen be applied directly to your skin, underneath moisturizers and foundation. According to WedMD, you would need seven times the normal amount of foundation and fourteen times the normal amount of powder, for your makeup to be as effective as sunscreen.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Should I reapply? If so, how?

Yes, you should reapply sunscreen multiple times a day. And to do this without messing up your full-glam look, you should use powdered sunscreen. This will be the best and most effective way to keep your makeup looking great, while getting the sun protection that you need.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In short, applying sunscreen is the most crucial step in your morning routine. And by answering these three questions, I hope you have found that this can be an easy way to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy and can keep your makeup untouched.
